Waimea Canyon Overlook

Waimea Canyon Overlook or Waimea Canyon Lookout is the main viewing area for Waimea Canyon.

Located at Mile Marker 10 along Koke’e Road, Waimea Canyon Overlook offers expansive views into the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.

It’s the first of several Waimea Canyon lookouts as you drive into Waimea Canyon State Park, and arguably the most impressive viewpoint.

As the principal viewing area for visitors to Waimea Canyon State Park, the Waimea Canyon Overlook offers ample parking.

As you walk up the ramp from the parking lot, you start to get incredible views of Waimea Canyon, with its striking color palette of red, rust, green, and brown.

The ramp takes you to the lower viewing gallery, where you can walk around to get closer looks at the canyon from different angles.

If Waipoo Falls is flowing when you visit, you will be able to see this double-tiered Waimea Canyon waterfall from the Waimea Canyon Overlook.

If you do not have mobility issues, you can climb up a short series of steps to the upper viewing area, which again offers expansive views of Waimea Canyon.

On bright clear days, the views of Waimea Canyon from the Waimea Canyon Overlook are breathtaking. The colors will captivate you!

It can be windy here, though, especially in the viewing areas, so hang on to your hat if you are wearing one!
